Overcast and snowing today, the last couple of days the temperatures have been a little warmer but now they are dropping again. Snow is good on the mountain, especially on the higher slopes. Higher slopes at Lech are quite sparse of snow with many closed - seems to have been very windy up there.

Temperatures are still very cold in the resort. More snow is forecast from Wednesday onwards. The higher slopes have some great snow on them and there has been good powder to ski over the opening weekend. The lower slopes where there is a lot of man made snow are very hard and not so nice to ski. The snow makers are on full time and it will not be long before a run down to the village is prepared.

As the season is now almost upon us I will now start posting some regular weather reports. Today is a good day to start as the snow is falling outside the window as I write this. The is in the region of four inches overnight snow fall. The forecast is for more midweek and next weekend.

Sunday 28th March

Snow has fallen for the last two days and continues as I write this, the mountain now has a complete covering of snow once again. Should make for some nice conditions on the piste and also some good off piste skiing. More snow due during the coming week. Hopefully we will get a nice run in to the end of the season.

Fresh snow arrived over the weekend and more is forecast from Wednesday onwards and quite a bit too! The piste is in great condition and we have sunny skies for the today and tomorrow but very cold.

The forecast was right last week, well nearly! We had a good snowfall on Friday night / Saturday morning - more in Vorarlberg though. Last couple of days has been nice and sunny and the blue skies have appeared again today. Snow is forecast again this week for Wednesday - Friday.

The weather for the last week has been really great, blue skies and fantastic snow on the piste. The forecast is for snow by the weekend with plenty forecast for Friday & Saturday and again a big fall the following Wednesday.

The forecast today is very easy.... I have looked out of the window and..... It is dumping it down! Half a metre is expected which is perfect for those not sitting at home with a broken leg! After the snow at the weekend another big dump will make it fantastic both on and off the piste.

Today St.Anton seems to have become a ski resort again - it has been snowing all day!! Not massively heavy but snowing all day so hopefully the will be a foot or so up on the mountain.... The weather forecast for today - well it said cloudy and no snow!! Think I will look for another site.

The snow forecast from yesterday until tomorrow has of course not arrived and instead with have blue skies with light cloud covering. The snow is good on and off the piste but of course a good few feet of fresh snow would be very welcome! The forecast, for what it is worth, predicts light snow from the end of this week.... we will see

After a few days of very nice weather, blue skies but cold today has started very overcast. The snow is falling gently this morning (not forecast of course). The forecast for what it is worths is suggesting some snow from Sunday through to Tuesday but not a large amount.

I am not sure why I keep checking out the weather forecasts. Snow was not forecast for the weekend so imagine the surprise when it started to dump it down early Sunday morning! Last week was forecast to be quite sunny but it was overcast the whole time. Today has started off quite bright but now seems to be clouding over again. This season, so far, we seem to be having more than our fair share of dull, overcast days with out very much in the way of fresh snow - hopefully this means that later in the season there will be loads of the white stuff!

More snow has fallen overnight and continues to fall this morning, not a great deal in the village but for sure there will be more up on the mountain. Overcast today but forecast is brighter for tomorrow with a big snowfall arriving on Christmas day. The skiing has been very good this week and tomorrow could be another good powder day. Update: 9am and it is dumping it down!

Fresh snow has fallen overnight and I would guess about 10 - 15 cm in total with more forecast Wednesday through - Friday so it looks like we are in for a very nice white Christmas.

More snow overnight, the snow makers have been making snow on the Moos just behind the Galzigbahn and we have a white village once again. The temperatures have been cold for a while now and quite a few places have been white in the village for the last month.

Much colder here in the village, the snow makers are running flat out up on the Galzig which tells me that they expect it to stay below freezing up there from now on. Looking up at Osthang you can see that it has already been groomed and that there is a lot of snow there already - far more than at this point last season.

After taking a day off yesterday the snow is back again today. It has been snowing for most of the day although it is quite wet in the village I am sure it will be nice up on the mountain. The forecast for the next week is pretty much the same, snow, clouds and a little bit of sunshine coming through. Looks like we will have powder skiing at Easter!

Here we are at the end of March and the snow is coming down like there is no tomorrow. This last few weeks we have had plenty of snow allowing loads of powder days. There have been a few days of sunshine too. The forecast for the next couple of days is more snow and then a little sunshine. We have had in the region of a metre of fresh snow over the last two days - wonderful!!

Well your guess is as good as mine, so far this season the weather men seem to have been getting it right but this last week they were back to their old form! The prediction was for cloudy days and snow - we had a few clouds but plenty of sun and no snow! A fair amount of snow was predicted for this weekend but that now seems to have changed to a little bit of snow. Next week seems to be the same as this one just gone with the snow again expected from the end of the week and over the weekend. I am thinking that this season we will see some great snowfalls in March and even April so it may be worth a punt and going for a cheaper holiday after Easter when I am sure the snow will be very good...

After a few weeks of mostly sunny weather, blue skies and no fresh snow the weather has now at last turned. Yesterday there was about 10cm of fresh snow overnight but today it is dumping it down! Already there is several inches of snow on my balcony and no sign of it stopping. The forecast for the next week is snow most days apart from Thursday with the bigger fall coming on Friday.

Nothing but sun for the last week or two and it seems that nothing but sun is on the menu for the next week too! The forecast says that we should expect snow next Monday evening / Tuesday. The pistes remain good although a little too much artificial snow for my liking.

Sorry for the lack of recent reports but a little too much celebrating over the festive period. In summary Christmas week was crap weather and New Year week was great! Today it is cloudy, overcast and was briefly snowing this morning but only very lightly. The resort could really do with another big snow fall but nothing seems due in the near future. The forecast for the next seven days is pretty much sunny and blue skies. The piste is good although consisting of too much machine made snow for my liking. As for skiing off piste be prepared to trek far and wide to find good powder snow, probably too far to walk to make it worthwhile!

It has been a mixed few days here with two days of snow leading up to Saturday followed by warmer weather and rain which pretty much ruined all the snow off piste. The slopes are in good shape but just very crowded now Christmas is nearly here. The forecast for over Christmas is sunny / cloudy for today and tomorrow with the chance of a little snow for Christmas and boxing day. Then it should be back to sunny / cloudy over the weekend but it is looking like blue skies for the New Year.

The weather for the last two days has been overcast with the sun occasionally shining through. The forecast for the next few days is pretty much the same. Some fresh snow is forecast from Thursday and throughout the weekend.

Temperatures remain reasonably low, snow id forecast for the next 3 - 4 days. The piste remain very good and the resort is still pretty quiet which is crazy considering the wonderful conditions.

There has been at least half a metre of snow here over the weekend. The temperatures have stayed pretty low so the snow makers have been on big time. All this means that the piste is in great shape everywhere and the off piste areas are also pretty good although there are still a few rocks to be found lurking just under the surface which to be honest is normal through the season anyway! The pic shows the snow fall in St.Christoph overnight.

As forecast it has started snowing in the early hours of this morning and is set to continue over the weekend. Visability on the mountain will not be so good but we can live with that to get some nice fresh snow and ski in the powder.

Snowing steadly today in St.Anton, quite overcast and probably not the best day for skiing but of course fresh snow is always very welcome. The snow on the Galzig is good, Kapall is pretty good but a little spars in some places. Albona above Stuben is in need of more snow as the high winds have blown a lot of the snow off the piste.

Well the storm has passed by and the sun has come out to bathe a very white St.Anton with its warmth. Reports are that we have had between 1 & 2 metres of snow and more is due on Tues / Weds next week. The pic was taken from my balcony this morning.

Well as you will see from the photos winter is now here in St.Anton - it has been snowing for the last two days and temperatures are forecast to drop much lower. Estimates are that we will have between one and two metres of snow over the weekend.

The weather is getting much colder here now, there is snow on the higher slopes and all in all it seems to be following a very similar pattern to last year when it dumped down in mid November. Some snow is forecast for next week at the Galzig.

A beautiful sunny day here in St.Anton - just right for a nice walk iver to St.Jakob and back. As you will see from the photo's the snow of recent days is covering the mountains all the way down to the Galzig and blue on Blue Osthang.

The weather for the last 10 days has been wonderful. We have had bright blue skies and pleasant temperatures. It has been ideal for everyone enjoying the half term holiday break. The forecast is for a change over the next few days, more clowds and even some snow from Friday onwards.

After a couple of days of snow and nice weather today we have a change and not one for the better. It was snowing in the village first thing this morning but as the temperatures rose towards plus 6 the snow turned to rain. Hopefully it is snowing up the mountain although I think the temperature on Galzig is only around zero. The temperatures will fall overnight and snow is forecast throughout the night. As from tomorrow we should a have quite a few days of reasonable weather.

Today St.Anton awoke to low cloud and snow. The snow was coming down quite hard at one point, certainely enough to find some nice powder runs. The snow stopped at around 5pm and the forecast for tomorrow is for a sunny day with temperatures around minus 7 or 8, The clouds are set to return in the evening and are hopefully bringing more snow on Monday.

Yesterday as predicted did have a little fall of snow, but only a sprinkling. Overall it was a dull day with poor visability. Today it is looking pretty much the same but without the small snowfall. The wind is higher today and the temperatures have come down. Does not look like a great day for skiing.

Today the weather forecast is for change. The blue skies look set to disappear and temperatures will be dropping. Snow is forecast later on today, continuing through the night. Four days of snow are also predicted from Friday onwards as the temperatures drop to around -10 degrees.

A very nice day. Clear blue skies and warm temperatures as you can see from the photo of the sunbathers on Rendl. The snow is still holding up nicely and is in great shape. I think that this is pretty much the forecast for the whole week although there is the possibility of a little snow as we approach the weekend.

A little snowfall is forecast but there is of course always the danger that it will come down as rain. We really need at least another 20cm just to give a good covering to all of the crud and bumps.

Well what can I say - Yuk, I think about sums it up! The temperature in the village is plus 3 and on the Galzig it is zero - too warm. The snow that was forecast is obviously coming down as rain in the village and the same applies for quite away up the mountain. Just what we did not want. Tomorrow the temperatures are forecast to drop by 5 or 6 degrees.

Today we have very poor visibility and warmer temperatures. It has been snowing / raining in the village but snowing up on the mountain overnight and this morning. In the region of 20cm have fallen overnight. Hopefully the snow will continue for a while longer...

Too windy for ski jumping in Innsbruck but in St.Anton the snow remains good and temperatures lowish at around minus 1 on the Galzig today. They are set to fall alittle over the next couple of days with some more snow coming from Saturday evening and continuing for a few days. However probably not as much as we would like !

What can I say... F***ing cold and very busy on the slopes. The fresh snow is still nice in quite a few places off piste but on piste it is very hard and icy. There are so many people here at the moment that it is quite dangerous on the psite, you need eyes in the back of your head. Temperatures are due to rise a little bit over the next few days but snow is still being forecast from Thursday evening.

Perfect weather today...that is if you fancy staying in your apartment and watching TV ! It is very cloudy and the visability is poor. It is snowing but not very much. Reports from friends on the slopes say that all the fresh snow is doing is cover up the ice so that you can not see it... I wonder what time the Great Escape is on....

We have had two days of very pleasant weather and good snow conditions. However as it is so busy here at the moment the piste gets very bumpy and slippery as the day goes on. The forecast is for the blue skies to disappear tomorrow and for snow all next week. Temperatures are set to drop down to minus 15 from the New Year....

The blue skies and sun have gone to be replaced by clouds and colder temperatures. The slopes are quite hard and icy. Just a thin layer of loose snow over the hard packed snow which when added to busy slopes makes things quite hazardous. The helicopter had to land at least twice today which always means quite a nasty accident.

Today was the best day yet, we still have the clear blue skies but today it was a little bit warmer in St.Anton. The snow conditions remain wonderful on the higher piste, late in the day as you ski down to the village they are a little icy in places. The forecast is for more of the same until Saturday when a little cloud is forecast but generally we have good weather continuing through to Christmas.

Yesterday the weather was perfect with blue ski and perfect snow. Today as I write this it is overcast and snowing. Not too heavy but still looking like a day to wrap up warm !

Update : The clouds cleared away by 10am and we had a beautiful day here in St.Anton, the snow was perfect, really great to ski on. The forecast is for more of the same until Friday / Saturday.

It has been snowing most of the night, already this morning you can hear them blasting on the mountain to set off the controlled avalanches. As I look out of the window it is snowing very heavily and is very overcast - not I suspect a good day for skiing today! The forecast is predicting snow right through the next seven days with cloud and some sun peaking through.

So the first day out on the slopes and I can report that all the pistes have plenty of good snow on them. All the lifts were running apart from the Rendl side which should open in about a week. The Schindlergratbahn was running although I did not venture over to it as the visibility was not good up there. However the fact that it is open means that we can also ski to Stuben. The weather is supposed to remain overcast with some snow for the next few days....Very few people on the slopes so this is the ideal time to ski....where are you all...

Clear blue skies today and cold weather....so it is looking great for tomorrow when, of course, the lifts are opening up. The snow that was forecast for the end of this week is supposed to start from Saturday and last for a few days. A word of warning here - do not log onto the blog (Sidney's Diary) tomorrow unless you are over here because it will be full of the first photo's from the slopes by late afternoon and I wouldn't want you to get depressed as you spend a cold, wet, weekend in the UK !!

After a week when the temperatures in the village had risen a little we are now back to what the forecasters had promised - snow. The temperatures have dropped and it did snow quite a bit yesterday. It is still coming down today, and nearly as heavy as two weeks ago. The forecast is for more snow Thursday through to Monday with the temperatures staying below freezing on the mountain if not in the village. With the lifts opening up on Friday it is looking good !

Well, we seem to be back to normal now as the weather forecast proved incorrect for this week! Instead of the snow that was forecast, the temperatures in fact rose, still above freezing on the mountain but not so in the village. The forecast (do we believe it) for the next few days is getting colder with snow from Friday onwards and much lower temperatures going through into next week. So if this proves to be correct, some new snow and lower temperature would be perfect with the lifts opening a week on Friday.

Well for those of you still wondering about the snow over here - take a look at this pic. You will see we have loads of snow and people are already getting on their touring skis and walking up to get a taste of the fresh powder snow that is everywhere - I am heading up tomorrow for sure. The temperatures are set to stay below freezing all week with more snow forecast throughout. So the best advice I can give you is book some flights and get over here !!

That Friday Feeling

Today dawned bright and cold. It has stopped snowing but the temperatures are staying low which is great. Blue sunny skies shone brightly over the beautiful white slopes above St.Anton. The snow makers were on full power making even more of the white stuff, the piste bashers have been doing their work and you can see the tracks in the snow where people have walked up to get the first powder of the season. Talking of which I bumped into my friend Helli as he returned from the slopes, skis on shoulder, he said that there are over two metres of snow up at the top. So it really does look like we are heading for a great start to the season, this is backed up by the fact that so many of the beds in St.Anton are already booked. It is now extremely hard to find a place to stay in the village itself for the Christmas / New Year period. Hey bring it on - lifts open two weeks tomorrow.....

Wednesday 14th Nov

It has snowed through the night (over 20cm) here in St.Anton and the snow is still coming down very nicely thank you as I write this report. The forecast is for it to continue through to Friday which is good news. The best news however is that the temperatures are still keeping low even down here in the village, up on the mountain they are between -8 & -9 degrees. In fact i is looking so good at the moment that there is even talk in the village of the lifts opening earlier than scheduled. Even if this does not happen there are only two and a half weeks to go before it all kicks off.....

It was snowing when I went to bed last night so when I woke this morning the first job was to open the skylight and check on the snow for you guys, it was strange because it was harder to open than normal....maybe something to do with the foot of snow on it !! The ensuing avalanche was not fun for a morning wake up call ! There is about 60 cm of snow in the village now and over 1 metre in St.Christoph. Opinion is that there are at least a couple of metres up on the top with more snow forecast for this week...

Friday Nov 9th

It has snowed every day this week apart from yesterday and today it is coming down quite nicely, looking like it is building up for the large snowfall we have been promised for the weekend. Temperatures are still cold so we have snow all the way down the lower slopes to the village. Will add some pictures when it stops snowing as you can't see too much outside the window at the mo !! Great..... Now taken some pics of the snow in the village...it is all lokking good so far...

The First Weather Report

The first weather report of the season - here we go. October has been colder this year and as I look out of the window this moring I see the snow falling down on the the slopes. I was on the Gampen last week and I could see that the top of Galzig was covered in a layer of snow that reached half way down blue Osthang. Bachseitte was also covered. The forecast is for it to snow all week with a very big snowfall over the weekend. The temperatures are still remaining cold at the moment so fingers crossed the local opinion that we a due a good winter could be correct - watch this space....
